Sci-Fi Romance Quarterly accepts submissions of romance short stories in any sci-fi sub genre. They often have a quarterly theme for submissions.
At the time of this writing, they are seeking submissions under the theme “Alien Love.” The deadline for this theme is May 15th, 2016.
They pay 2.5 cents per word, up to 7,500 words. That means a maximum payment of $187.50.
What is science fiction romance? According to their website:
“In a nutshell, it’s a romance that takes place in a technological setting and has an upbeat ending. Some stories have more science fictional elements and some have less, but generally the stories focus on the intersection of technology and romance.”
Their submission guidelines specifically state that they want “happily ever after”, or “happy for now” stories.
Their submission guidelines also have answers to specific questions, such as the number of spaces they want after the end of a sentence (one), and whether cussing is fine (it is).
