Logic(s) is a queer Black and Asian magazine about tech and society. They publish 3 times a year in print and digital. They want to publish Black folks in African or Black studies. They’re especially “interested in those thinking through Black African indigeneity, queer and trans life on the continent (including non English based conceptions of gender and sexuality that use other keywords).” They pay $1,000 to $4,000 USD per piece depending on length. Cosmopolitan is a women’s magazine for dating tips, sex advice, beauty tutorials, fashion trends, and celebrity news. Their features department is looking for proposals that are in some way related to the subject of REBELLION. The features should be timely, relevant to young women in the United States, and additive. The New Inquiry is an online magazine and website of cultural and literary criticism. They’re seeking pitches on abortion rights. They’re interested in “original analysis and insight on the legal battle for reproductive justice, the recent precedents internationally in the fight (such as mobilizations in Ireland and Argentina) and the horizon of possibility for greater justice in the medical field.” They publish 3,000-word essays and offer $150/piece. Glamour is an online magazine for women. Their purpose editor & deputy website editor is accepting pitches on this news: “Today, a mother-of-three has been jailed for 28 months after using abortion pills to end her own pregnancy.” As per a previous tweet by this editor, they pay £200 for 800 words. They aim to “broaden readers’ perspectives on food through rigorous, lively, and culturally sensitive journalism.” According to one payment report, they paid $0.33/word for a 900-word feature. As Equals is a series by CNN about systemic gender inequality. They’re seeking pitches from Africa: “I am now looking for pitches from Africa for ‘Beyond the Binary’, a short series of stories I am editing/producing for CNN’s As Equals project. The series will have deeply reported, character led stories documenting what it means to live as an LGBTQI+ person in the global south, and how do these identities interact with broader systems such as healthcare, housing, migration, education & employment.” The length of the stories will be around 2,000 words. New Scientist is a weekly science and technology magazine. They’re currently commissioning Christmas features. Their head of features has tweeted, “Christmas features are shorter (1,200-1,800 words) than normal features. They tend to be about stranger, funnier or more light-hearted subjects (but not always – last year we did hardcore quantum Christmas games). They can be about things you tend to associate with Christmas BUT they don’t have to be.” According to this Christmas feature guide by their feature editor, their rates begin at about £620.
