Applications are now open for the Ruth Lilly Fellowship. $25,800 will be awarded to 5 poets. The total award is $129,000.

To be eligible, poets must be between 21 and 31 years old. (Sorry! Even the author of this short article is not eligible.)

Applications are due April 30th, 2019.

Five Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowships in the amount of $25,800 each will be awarded to young poets in the U.S. through a national competition sponsored by the Poetry Foundation, publisher of Poetry magazine. Established in 1989 by the Indianapolis philanthropist Ruth Lilly, the fellowships are intended to encourage the further study and writing of poetry.

The competition is completely free to enter. Applications will send 10 pages of poems, a 250 word introduction to your work, and an optional publication list.
