Tressacts Twenty-Two: Alchemy and Artifacts

This submission call is for Canadian authors only. The guidelines say that they want stories of “the magic behind the history, the myths arising from the artifacts, the mysteries missed (or dismissed), but which lie at the root of world events. The editors want tales that explore laws magical as well as physical, the manipulation of reality in the past, resulting in the present. History, sorcery, alchemy, mystery. All with the sense of ‘what if?’ “Alternate histories will be considered, but they really want stories that consider actual world events and characters, and how some kind of magic has manipulated history. All stories must have a speculative element. See guidelines for potential ideas. They will also publish short poetry.

Martian Migraine Press: Innsmouthbreathers – Cautionary Fables of Mythos Fandom

The editors are looking for “humourous stories of a certain kind of Cthulhu Mythos fan: the rabid Lovecraft worshipper, the defender of the outmoded and outclassed, the pulp reader for whom Weird Fiction peaked somewhere in the middle of the last century.” Stories should pit Innsmouthbreather against all kinds of real and imagined horrors: shoggoths with Social Justice agendas, politically active Deep Ones, or enlightened Mi-Go. They are aiming for light-hearted roasting, a mostly funny book, and not stories that are outright mean or nasty. In short, they invite writers to make readers geek out over Lovecraft.

Pay: CAD0.03/word
