LampLight
This is a magazine of dark fiction, both short stories and flash fiction. They want work that is dark, literary — creepy, weird, and unsettling. Their guidelines say, “No specific sub-genres or themes, just good stories. For inspiration, we suggest “The Twilight Zone”, “The Outer Limits”,” – and also the first volume of their stories. They do not want work about vampires, zombies, werewolves, serial killers, hitmen, excessive gore or sex. They also accept reprints. They can accept only 300 submissions a month during their reading period.

Carrion Blue 555: Seasons of Rot
They want horror, fantasy, scifi, experimental, and bizarro fiction, poetry, and art for four seasonal volumes, collectively called ‘Seasons of Rot’. These hope to explore seasonal themes in unique, surreal, and festering ways. Their guidelines say, “Spring is cancer blossoming in new growth, a single breath of moist soil. Summer begets overripe fruit in Persephone’s withered right hand. True decay is beautiful and clashing in the cordyceptic autumn. All of winter flinches beneath the Wicker King’s gaze, intimidating even the light of day.” Also, “Interpretations of seasons are purposefully elastic for your artistic benefit. A season’s atmosphere is just as gripping as its setting.”
Deadline: 31 December 2019
Length: No length guidelines, but will cap payment at 5,000 words
Pay: $0.02/word, up to $100

The Big Click
This is a bimonthly electronic journal of crime fiction. They are interested in publishing work under the broad umbrella of crime. They are especially interested in noir, tales of the criminal lifestyle, confessional fiction, peculiar literary specimens, and great characters, and are somewhat less interested in tales of pure ratiocination, police procedurals, and any story whose title includes a colon followed by “A Firstname Lastname Investigation/Mystery/Case.” They do not want outright supernatural fiction, science fiction stories that use mystery-detection plots simply to tour the future, stories about killing pedophiles, or tales of frustrated writers of short stories who kill their obese wives, or vampire stories.
Deadline: Rolling
Length: Unspecified
Pay: $100

St Anthony Messenger
This is a Catholic monthly magazine. Apart from articles, they also accept fiction and poetry.
