Anne Frank was one of the most tragic and influential writers of the 20th century. Though she did not write for fame, she managed to touch the lives of millions of people.  She was born in Germany, but because she was Jewish, she was forced to go into hiding during World War II. She was still a child. Her family was eventually betrayed, and she was sent to a concentration camp, where she died.
