Galli Books: Speculative Masculinities

The editors want work that interrogates, problematises and questions the forms of toxic male masculinities that have dominated speculative fiction since the beginning of the 20th Century. They want fiction, essays and poetry that explore other possible models of mansculinity, models not centred on violence and dominance and repression of feelings. They welcome work from writers of marginalised backgrounds and identities, especially where those identities complicate the author’s relationship with mascilinity.

Fireside Fiction

They publish any genre, and publish more of speculative fiction. They welcome stories from traditionally marginalized voices.

UFO – Unidentified Funny Objects

This is an annual anthology of humorous science fiction and fantasy. Past headliners have included George R. R. Martin and Neil Gaiman.

Cohesion Press: SNAFU – Resurrection

This is a military horror anthology. Think Doom, Resident Evil, Terminator – anything that can be called a high-action monster story. They want extreme action of the military or paramilitary kind.

The Georgia Review

This literary magazine publishes fiction, nonfiction, poetry and book reviews. They have published work that is less than half a page, and more than 60 pages. There is no fee for mailed submissions.

The Gettysburg Review

This quarterly literary magazine publishes fiction, poetry, nonfiction and essay-reviews. There is no fee for mailed submissions.

SubTerrain Magazine

They welcome fiction, nonfiction, commentary and poetry from all writers, including underrepresented groups. Submissions for their themed issue, Margins, will open on 26 March. There is no fee for mailed submissions.

Gray’s Sporting Journal

This journal of hunting and fishing has a column called Yarns, which are campfire tales, where writers can submit features that are fact or fiction. The magazine mainly publishes articles on fishing and hunting, expedition articles (travel pieces with hunting and fishing), and also poetry.
