LumberLoft Press is currently hosting a short story contest with a $1,000 grand prize. The theme: Death from Above.
The stories must be original, unpublished stories, up to 5,000 words in length.
The contest is open to U.S. residents, aged 18 or older.
According to their contest page:
“Lately, we at the Lumberloft have become fascinated with the tragic but often heartwarming stories about people (and animals) who have sadly died after an unexpected force has quite literally fallen on them from the air above. The more we started to explore the topic, the more it sunk deep into our guts. These stories are not uncommon, nor are they always explainable. But they’re also not always sad. They’re often filled with unforgettable details of hope, of the pursuit of a passion, or of the dream of living an admirably quiet and normal life. And as the loved ones of these victims can attest, this could happen to any one of us.”
The contest is completely free to enter.
The deadline to enter is July 30th, 2019.
