Want $100,000 for proposing an idea for a book? If that sounds good to you, the Nine Dots prize is back for the third time, with the same massive $100,000 prize available to the winner.
To be clear, if you want the full prize, you’ll be expected to actually write the book you propose, though it only needs to be 25,000 words.
This year, the contest, which is co-hosted by Cambridge University, asks contestants to answer a simple question:
What does it mean to be young in an ageing world?
Your contest entry should include a “summary response to the set question” up to 3,000 words, a proposed book outline, and a “justification statement of your ability to complete the book.”
This is a relatively standard non-fiction book proposal format. The worst case? You get practice writing and submitting a book proposal. The best case? You get $100,000 to write the book.
Not bad.
If you’re interested in submitting, the deadline is January 18th, 2021.
