Men’s Journal is Looking for Features
Men’s Journal is a men’s lifestyle publication that covers travel, gear, food and drink, health and fitness, style, and more. Their senior editor is seeking big-swing features: “I’m on the hunt for long-form @MensJournal stories. Think inspiring as-told-to adventures, pricey whiskey or luxury watch true crime capers, in-depth reported health stories, or compelling narratives that our audience will wanna read.” As per a previous post by this editor, they pay $250 for 600 to 800 words. Fansplaining is a podcast about fandom. They’re temporarily transitioning into a written-only publication and are accepting pitches. Briarpatch is a Canadian magazine of politics and culture. They’re seeking pitches for their unthemed September/October issue. If you’re “eager to share a juicy piece of labour history or investigate a suspicious institution,” then email them your pitches at pitch@briarpatchmagazine.com. They pay $150 for profiles, short essays, reviews, and parting shots (typically 1,500 words or less); $250 for feature stories (usually 1,500 to 2,000 words) and photo essays; and $350 for research-based articles and investigative reporting (usually 2,000 to 2,500 words).
