Green European Journal is Accepting Pitches

Green European Journal is a political ecology magazine. They’re looking for pitches for their next print edition, which will explore “what freedom means in an era of deep polarisation and geopolitical tension.” They’re accepting essays, interviews, photo essays, and comics or graphic journalism. Prism is Seeking Pitches for RESEEDING THE LAND Series

Prism is a BIPOC-led news outlet that covers voting rights, electoral justice, criminal justice, racial justice, workers’ rights, immigration, the environment, gender and LGBTQIA+ issues, and more. They’re looking for story pitches for “a series called RESEEDING THE LAND about connections between ecosystem & community health.” Rate is $0.50 per word. Type Investigations is Looking for Pitches

Type Investigations is a nonprofit investigative newsroom. They’re accepting pitches and are particularly interested in pitches on these topics:

– “The erosion of rights”

– “Political influence and corporate malfeasance”

– “Climate change and environmental justice”

Digital Frontier Magazine is Seeking Pitches for Issue 005

Digital Frontier magazine explores the intersection of tech and humanity. They’re looking for pitches for issue 005. The theme of the issue is OUTLIERS. Their editor has posted this on X: “OUTLIERS aren’t the people, companies, communities saying they’re doing things differently – they are so fixated on their way, no one else’s was even an option. OUTLIERS are the thinkers who raise eyebrows, the builders who innovate on a whim, the subcultures that shape society (without pomp and circumstance) – these are the stories I want to tell in issue 005.” Rates are ≥30p per word. Rest of World is Looking for Pitches

Rest of World is a global nonprofit publication that covers technology’s impact beyond the Western bubble. They’re looking for pitches from experienced freelance journalists. According to their editor-in-chief, they offer a flat fee for shorter stories, generally estimated at $0.50/word, with payments ranging from $750 to $1,000 per story. APC’s Safety for Voices Initiative is Seeking Pitches

The Association for Progressive Communications (APC) is “a worldwide network supporting the use of internet and ICTs for social justice and sustainable development.” Their Safety for Voices initiative is seeking 20 women human rights defenders (WHRDs) to contribute “personal essays and stories to the anthology focused on documenting and highlighting their resilience, challenges, and triumphs in the face of threats from state and societal actors.” They will pay each contributor $300 to $600. The Scottish BPOC Writers Network is Looking for Blog Pitches

The Scottish BPOC Writers Network (SBWN) provides “advocacy, literary events, and professional development opportunities for BPOC writers based in or from Scotland.” They’re seeking pitches on the theme of ‘Sustain’ for their blog. They’re looking for “pitches about any and all interpretations of the concept of ‘sustain’, from tradition to food to the climate crisis and anything else that comes to mind.” The pitches can be in text, audio, or video format. The Barn Raiser is Accepting Pitches

The Barn Raiser is a publication that covers rural and small town news. They’re seeking new writers to pitch them on “topics that affect people in rural and small town America.” While they’re open to pitches on any topic, at the moment they’re particularly interested in reported pieces on:

– “Pesticides and corporate accountability, including but not limited to anti-trust action or litigation against companies like Bayer/Monsanto

– Sewage sludge

– PFAS

– Pipelines and campaigns in resistance to pipelines

– Local organizers doing transformative work in their community

– Authoritarian threats in local communities

– Censorship or suppression of free speech in public education and libraries”

The Xylom is a “Gen-Z-led nonprofit exploring the communities influencing and shaped by science.” They publish personal essays (1,200 to 1,500 words), science analysis and opinion pieces (1,200 to 1,500 words), and narrative-driven science feature stories. Anime Herald is Always Accepting Articles from Freelancers

Anime Herald is a website that offers news, reviews, interviews, and commentary on anime and anime fandom. They’re always looking for articles from freelance writers. Rate is $50 per article (1,000 to 2,000 words). For more information, refer to their post, contributor guidelines, and pitch form.

Parapraxis is Seeking Pitches

Parapraxis is a print and online magazine of psychoanalysis. They’re actively looking for pitches for Issue 07: Romance and for their (un-themed) website. Leading Like a Lady is Seeking Stories from Community Organizers

Leading Like a Lady Blog (LLAL) is look for stories about community organizing or mutual aid from black women. Their editor writes: ” o you have a story about community organizing? Are you running mutual aid programs in your neighborhood? If so, we want to share your story! ” They’ve previously indicated their standard pay starts at $0.25 per word. The 51st is Seeking Opinion Pieces

The 51st is a worker-led local news source for D.C. They’re looking for opinion pieces. They want: “clear and concise arguments with obvious local ties, voice-driven writing, and topics that speak to either a timely news even or culturally relevant question (or, engage with existing conversations in a new way.)” According to their rate sheet, they pay $150 for opinion pieces (1,000 words or less). Matador Network is Looking for Pitches

Matador Network is the largest independent travel publisher in the world. In Spring 2025, they’re especially seeking:

– “Articles around destinations and experiences that may disappear — for whatever reason — in the coming years” 

– “Articles that tie your personal experience with a deeper topic”

– “Articles around key March and April events: World Wildlife Day, Mardi Gras, Holi, St. Patrick’s Day, etc”

– “Stories that can only be told because the writer experienced something”

Fortunately is Accepting Pitches for Issue 2

Fortunately is “a post-capitalist lifestyle magazine that explores the intersections of art, culture, and solidarity economies.” They’re accepting pitches for Issue 2: FAIR.
