Here are three publishers seeking submissions of short stories. The first two publishers have very short submissions windows. They’re open to submissions for just a week, or less. I’ve included them in the newsletter now, even though they’re not yet open, so any writer who wants to send work will be ready when the time comes.
Electric Literature is opening their submission period for longer fiction on April 1st. They’re closing on April 7th. They pay $300 for stories bewteen 1,500 and 3,000 words. They’re a literary publication, with spunk. They’re currently open to submissions of graphic stories, as well as poetry. To learn more, read their submission guidelines.
Fireside Fiction is opening to submissions of short stories on April 8th. They want short stories up to 1,500 words, with payment of 12.5 cents per word. That works out to a max of $187.50 per story. They’re a general fiction market. Send them your best writing. To learn more, read their submission guidelines.
Translunar Lounge is seeking “fun” speculative fiction. They pay 3 cents per word, up to 5,000 words. They’re open to “Swashbuckling adventure, deadly intrigue, and gleeful romance” as well as more subtle stories, as long as they’re “fun.” The deadline is April 15th.
