7 Greeting Card Companies that Pay Writers (Up to $300)

For those of you who would like your poem, or gag-line, or clever, or sincere idea published as a greeting card, here are seven greeting card companies that accept submissions from writers – and pay for the ideas they publish.

Keep in mind that it is usually very competitive to get an idea accepted by these publishers. If you’re looking to build a career out of this, then it may be a difficult path, compared to blogging, magazine writing, or writing for companies/clients. However, it can be a lot of fun to come up with ideas – so why not submit a few in your spare time?

(Thanks to Fatima Saif for her research on this list.)

  1. Blue Mountain Arts is an established publisher of greeting cards. They pay $300 for exclusive worldwide rights to use poetry in greeting cards and other products. They want “contemporary prose or poetry written from personal experience that reflects the thoughts and feelings people today want to communicate to one another, but don’t always know how to put into words.” To read their complete submission guidelines, visit this page.
  2. Kalan LP supplies innovative and trendy gifts and novelty items to retailers across the United States. They are always seeking fun and original ideas for their products.
